For those of you who already knew this, good on you. But a fashion risk for the summer was to try out beanies during the warmest season. & it works!!! My man @trav_dave describes it best as giving your style a little Marvin Gaye “Trouble Man” vibe. There are different weights of beanies, so the trick is to get lighter weights. Or if you want to use the beanies you already have, wear them on your head in the way where they sit, but not necessarily cover your entire head. This is one of the times I can get off my favorite combination of clothes: A crewneck & shorts This is Westside Gunn merch, from his recent Bochella pop up shop in California & I’m gonna pair it with my Just Don Chicago Bulls shorts Both of these pieces are pretty heavy, so 60 degrees is the perfect time to get this off. Keeps you warm, but it won’t be hot. & I decided to pair this with my Lightning Jordan 4s I’m on record saying pairing these with yellow in your shirt & hat are cheap. #FitsOffFriday - my favorite shoes are boots edition Good chance you’re gonna see me wear these Taupe Blue Yeezy Desert boots a lot for the next 6 months. They’re not comfortable (you HAVE to go up a full size), but they’re also not heavy like most mens winter boots. Somebody tried to buy them off my feet in Foot Locker yesterday. Lol nah. Everything else (flannel, tee & jeans) are from @gap. I need them to make some good flannels (particularly in tall sizes), they don’t have any that I’m crazy about this season, which is surprising. #FitsOffFriday - summer to fall edition Had to give you guys three fits since it’s been awhile. Still plan on doing the summer to fall video, just been busy. A lot of my fashion lately has continued to center around working from home. Lots of sweats & shorts. Depending on the day we turn the heat on. It’s getting real fast. FOG will likely be my go-to in these colder months. I still love my sweatpants from @talentless. These @trophyhunting shorts are so amazing. As for feets, I’ll likely be wearing lots & lots of Yeezys. I’ve bought…several pair over the last couple months (& I’ll do a reel once this last pair comes in). Y’all know I was hawking these 500 High Sumacs & got clowned into pulling the trigger by one of my group chats, because I was clearly annoying them with my lack of commitment. Foam Runners are GOATed & by far the most comfortable thing in my closet right now. If you can get retail, get them. If you can swing resell, the Ochres are kinda low in price. You won’t regret it. Out of town, but don’t think for one millisecond these fits aren’t getting off. Huge congrats to @_callmefree for making great art in Columbus & getting recognized by @abercrombie for it. I ain’t never stepped foot in a A&F store, but I bought a tee (& the quality is actually really good). Been heavy in @soleclassics since quarantine. They just dropped these shorts & they’re great. I get a lot of folks in my DM who ask me about matching. & I tell them all, the obvious match isn’t always the best. I found some secondary colors in the shirt design to play with. The orange, the purple, the blue, all connect with the hat, shorts & sneakers. Don’t just go for the tan/brown in the shirt. You can, but it’s not your only option. & this shirt will get multiple wears because of the many options in the artwork. More fits off when I get back.

I don’t have a plug & honestly I don’t need one. I am a beneficiary of adaptability & timing. These are a testament to that. I just so happened to have bought a pair of @soleclassics Diamond Beach shorts through their app. I always pick up in store if I can. Just so happens as I walk in, they are letting unclaimed raffle pairs of South Beach Lebron 8s go in store. FCFS. Big sizes were gone of course, & I had shared with you guys in IG stories that I was on the fence about these. I wanted them for cultural purposes, but they don’t go with my style. So of course, my wife benefits. The biggest size they had was hers. I’ve been telling y’all to walk into these stores randomly because these brick & mortars want that foot traffic & they will create incentives for you to do so. Meanwhile I’m taking a break from buying sneakers (I’m buying hats & shorts 🥴).

Woke up in the middle of the night & couldn’t get back to sleep. Started perusing the instant grams & stumbled upon some bucket hats. & decided “you know what, I want one!” Was going to all the regular streetwear spots but settled on a $30 joint from Nike. Decided to sleep on it. The next morning I had to make an Amazon run (those haven’t stopped post-quarantine) & took a chance to look to see what kind of buckets they had there. I admittedly don’t buy clothes from Amazon (that has changed, another post/video soon), but found this bucket hat for $8! Pulled the trigger, arrived next day & I really like it. Glad I didn’t spend $30 on something I wasn’t sure would fit with my style. I will be making another video on style transitions I’ve had to make in the last few months, because they’ve been significant. Also un-DS’d the Carmines. The homie @byrdoe offered to look out, but I passed. Regretted it after a few weeks, & caught a massive SNKRS restock. The midsole is white (I’m positive the restock was returns that got re-painted). And yes, those are Forrest green sweats. They didn’t capture well in the photo.

#FitsOffFriday - @forever21men shorts edition Y’all know I’ve been pretty anti-fast fashion as I get older. I don’t want to have to buy a hoodie every year because it pills & fades after two wears & washes. I don’t want a t-shirt that fits awkwardly due to the cotton used. BUT. My oldest daughter’s favorite store is @forever21. So we’re in there for her. And these shorts catch my eye. After getting a couple pairs of Nike woven shorts, I wanted more. More with style, funk, flavor. Also adding to the fact I’m transitioning into only plain tees for the immediate time. The pop has to come from somewhere (& I don’t want it to be in the shoes). These are actually both swim shorts & I cut the lining out. They’re very busy & do all the talking. They’re 5 inches, so the thighs are out!!! & they were only $12. There were several other styles available too. I suggest you go TTS. Definitely a fun purchase. What have you settled on style wise for the summer? Which is your favorite look out of the two? #FitsOffFriday - 2nd opinion edition So a few months ago, I snagged the Yeezy Quantum Basketball model. I went up .5 size (as you do with Yeezys). I got them in & them joints looked like BOATS. The Nina, the Pinta & the Santa Maria. The fit was a little big, but I think the bulkyness of the shoe overall didn’t help. So I was gonna take them back & buy my true size. But I didn’t. They sat in my closet. Resell would have me losing money so I was in no rush. My good friend & fashion queen @lmonique13 were talking about Yeezys this weekend. She offered to provide a 2nd opinion of them on feet. And wouldn’t you know it, she insisted they didn’t look as bulky as I thought. So though I wasn’t sure, I followed her advice & just tried them out for a day. When I tell y’all I love these. The lockdown is REALLY tight, so I think these would make a great hooping shoe. But nope. OG Yeezy model colorways strike again. Also, gotta shoutout this sweater. Got it from @tier_nyc, an upstart black owned brand that I’ve really been into lately. They had a really low key 40% off sale so I snatched this sweater (should’ve got more). But yeah, Tier is 🔥. Sweats are @talentless, I’ve talked about them at length in previous posts.

So while I said I was taking a break, my wife started hinting she wanted to get back in the game (🥴), so I bought her a pair of these Yeezy 380 Alien Blues. s/o @soleclassics for the easy cop through their app. The 380 is considered to be the most comfortable Yeezy amongst brand enthusiasts. Boost is all over the foot bed. If you put a premium on comfort, I highly suggest a pair. Definitely go up .5 size. They run small like most Yeezys.

#31DaysOfFits - #FitsOffFriday edition I come to you a defeated man 😂😂😂. Some of you may or may not know, but I’m a MC & I have a show tonight. It’s my first show in a year (literally 2 weeks before quarantine), so I’ve been working a lot behind the scenes to make it happen. As a result, I couldn’t get too many fits off. I did get a day this week to knock something out. Brown will likely continue as a staple color through the summer. To not feel so cold, you can partner it with more vibrant colors. Like here, I went iridescent & lime green. If I went with a darker or more traditional winter colors, it definitely wouldn’t reflect the weather change.

#31DaysOfFits - Day Rubblerumpski First of all IG changed how you post multiple images (hold down on the picture & then the option to select more will appear). Second, usually when I wear this shirt, I match the gold. But when I looked at the shirt the other day, I noticed the blue & I said “ima match the blue”. Hence the socks & Royals. Lots of ppl hit me up about color combinations in their fits, try to find a secondary color that isn’t dominant & match other pieces of your outfit with that.

Finally bought a lens & the difference was DRASTIC!!! So though I’ve stockpiled many of these pics for May, this may be the wave moving forward. A hat. A gray hoodie. Olive pants. Everything you wear doesn’t need a logo. Everything doesn’t need to draw attention. You yourself have to pull the outfit together with confident & assurance. It’s a lot of lames out here with the latest Supreme, Off White & LV & they think that’s what makes them stylish but they look like a mannequin. Hockey jerseys remind me of the mid-90s & specifically NYC hip hop. I remember watching Yo! MTV Raps & believing New York was in black & white. A Rangers, Devils or Blackhawks jersey was 🔥🔥🔥 back then. I had a Devils jersey in middle school I think. I bought these Bordeaux 7s after one night watching The Last Dance. Today’s #FitsOffFriday is a collaboration with some up & coming brands. With last year’s emphasis on the value of black lives, & the resulting exposure of companies lack of diversity, there’s been a huge shift to support more local & independent businesses & break down the demographic even further from there (black, Christian, etc). The @ghostprotocol_clothing Small Bar Champion crewneck is super easy to style. You guys know I prefer subtle & the logo across the chest can be layered with a flannel or jacket (I didn’t do that here because it’s hot 😂). Because it’s a Champion crew, it sits well on me. The pants are from @gap (of course) & I couldn’t wait to bust out my #AirStructureTriax. This gives me a pop up top & the bottom, but the bottom pop doesn’t take away from the top, which is what I wanted to focus on. Also this black beanie has become my go-to this winter. One, because my daughter stole all my other black beanies & two because the quality on this is great. I haven’t been cutting my hair weekly in quarantine, so this was a good go-to to hide the scruff. Outfit #2 is from @ntvtngdotco . This sweater is definitely lighter, so I can get off my favorite combination, sweaters & shorts. These shorts are actually military issue PT shorts (PT = physical training, also PT gear is FIRE & I need more). You guys have to stop buying military-styled gear & actually get military gear. It’s cheaper & the quality is better because it’s made for military use. If you can’t get on a military base, find a military surplus store. They do not require you to be a military member to shop there. Anyway, paired this with my @kith/ @stancesocks & my @unionlosangeles Jordan 1s. My favorite part of this outfit though, is the hat. It’s by far the most comfortable dad hat I own & I own some pretty expensive ones. Make sure you support these or any other independent businesses, & let me know in the comments some new brands you’ve found that you like.

Ok ok, so this is definitely absolutely 100% my last sneaker purchase for a good while. Nothing on the calendar intrigues me + I’ve done A LOT of damage this year (I may do a “pickups of 2021 video so far” video, let me know if you’d like that. So these are a grail. A grail grail. I’ve wanted these shoes since 2008. Story time, this was my last year in the military & I was stationed in Washington. I was into sneakers somewhat (back then I was on Dunks heavy). Kanye West had just dropped Graduation & was set to begin his “Glow in the Dark” tour with Rihanna (who was the bathroom break believe it or not), Lupe Fiasco & NERD. I went to opening night of that show & it was amazing. We were in Seattle for a few hours & I walked by a boutique. Saw these & my face dropped. They were incredible. I couldn’t tell you why I wanted them so much, just the aesthetic as a whole maybe. I couldn’t afford them at the time (spent all my money on them tickets lol) & I couldn’t find them in my size after that. I wondered if Nike would ever retro these, as they were very niche. Not popular at all. 13 years later, they finally dropped. I had to. Now I’m done. What’s a shoe you want a brand to retro?

This is an instance where the different communities I engage intersect. I also know a lot of ppl aren’t touching this space (with good reasons), but there’s good dialogue to be had because there’s a lot going on. Happy #ModelMinistryMonday - there’s a lot going on in this fit that I couldn’t wait until Friday to get it off. We’re winding down on sweats season. I can’t front I’m a little sad, it’s all I’ve known for the better part of a year. I was about to tell y’all this brown @essentials has been my go-to hoodie. But shoot, ALL MY HOODIES have been go-to this year 😂. I wonder if the cropped style will become the norm or if it stays trendy. Personally I hope it’s here to stay within moderation. Now, sweats have been such a standard for me this year that I had to force myself to wear jeans. You already know these are from @gap. They are a slim fit, but I went up a size in the waist & length to get a slightly baggy fit. Great move if you want to keep things slender but not skinny in the winter time. The Medium Curry dunks dropped today on SNKRS via Draw. I can’t totally complain about The Draw because I’ve won I think two pairs of Travis Scott’s with it. But I bought these resell (check my previous post). After striking out on SNKRS, I moseyed on over to StockX to see what was what & these joints have increased in value by nearly $200 more than what I paid. That is NUTS!!! It’s a beautiful Dunk, but this resell stuff is stupid. It also feels like I only see Dunks on IG & for resell. I don’t really see cats wearing them out in the streets. This fit is also an ode to the nude pallet, which has become a favorite of mine. Neutrals. Creams. Browns. YOU DON’T HAVE TO MATCH for a fit to come together. I get quite a few DMs asking about putting things together & I think some of you are trapped in the old mindset that something has to match perfectly to be worn together & that’s just not true. Contrasting colors work & in this case, similar colors work as well. You just have to balance the bold with the subtle; it’s a lot. But we’ll talk about it more later. I think we are all frustrated with where the sneaker game is in 2021. It's close to impossible to buy what we want & even sneakers that were less desirable in years past are now flying off the shelves (Griffey's on Line 1). But there are a few workarounds. This is not me shilling a discord community or ATC services, these are old fashioned tricks that have worked for me in the last year. Nike Dunk Low “Medium Curry” I don’t know who it was that said these look like something I’d rock (show yourself in the comments) because I wanna thank you for such a spot-on assessment. I truthfully was not looking at Dunks like that. My Spartan Green joints were good enough for me. But these things, man. They’re GREAT. I’m very happy with them. I had an amazing February for sneakers, so I think I can comfortably take a break by ending with these. The only thing, I couldn’t get a clear answer on if these were dropping stateside, so I pulled the trigger on resell (make sure you watch my latest YT video “When To Buy Resell”) & these popped up on SNKRS two days later 😂. “Is @stockx the new #SNKRS?” For the last year or so, we’ve been unable to come close to buying the sneakers & clothing we want due to a surge in opportunistic resellers. Using bot technology & curating relationships to “back door” pairs, it’s made what was a fun hobby become incredibly frustrating. As a result, many have had to “play the game” & pay 300% markup (or more) more often than they’d like to. But in what circumstances should you do that? What all should go into that decision? #FitsOffFriday Two looks where brown is either the primary color or a subtle pop. Any color can function as anything. Muted colors can pop & colors that pop can be muted. The overshirt in outfit #1 was thrifted. I’ve never found tall @gap sizes at @goodwillcolumbus. Also here’s another look at these Athletic Taper jeans from them that I’ve been raving about. The Taupe Haze @jumpman23 4s are amazing on foot. The tongue is really plush; that & the infrared hits are my favorite part of the shoe. Hat is from @fattigerworks. Beanies I’ve mastered, but hats is a new venture for me. My daughter said I look like a dad & my wife said I look like a douchebag jock 😂😂😂. Somewhere in the middle is a sweet spot. Outfit #2 includes 3 of my favorite purchases of the winter. This @essentials puffer is 🔥. No literally. It traps in body heat & I’m burning up by mid-day. When I was making a Black Friday haul video, i was gonna tell y’all about these @carharttwip Vicious Pants. Mannnn LISTEN!!! Far & away my favorite pants purchase of 2020. They’re $100, but I got em half off for Black Friday. They’re comfortable. They fit me really really well. & they function as a throw on & go. Olive is so underrated when bringing a fit together. It’s an easy cheat code. Y’all know I love @kith & their Black History Month collab was a favorite of mine. I ended up being busy & missed the drop, but fortunately I’ve got a KITH plug who was able to snatch this box logo created by @wallflowermccoy. It was important for me to not buy resell because they split proceeds with the artists. Finally. If you don’t have a pair of @puma suedes, go get one. I got these during a 4th of July sale they had for $35. These are iconic. I should throw some fat white laces in. Anyway, let me know which outfit you like better, 1 or 2.

Is StockX the new SNKRS? Are we doomed to consistently pay resell for the clothing we love? Is this a phase? Or are we in a new era of fashion? Would love to know what y’all think. #modelministry

Everything you like isn’t for you. I really like the Yeezy Qntm Basketball sneaker. Usually all OG Yeezys are amazing. Turtle Doves. Belugas. Wave Runners. Etc etc. Also these look really dope on foot. So after a year of built up hype, Adidas surprised dropped them Monday. & they sat. & then I saw coupons worked on them. So I figured “why not?” & grabbed them for under retail. All my Yeezys run small. & this keeps me from wearing them because they’re not comfortable until you break them in. But these were available in a 13.5. So I figured this would be a win. I’d finally be able to try a Yeezy in my true Yeezy size. But these things are BOATS on feet. As I did research, I learned the difference between the basketball & lifestyle model. The differences exist in the details, but they also exist in the sizing. These actually run TTS. 🤦🏾 They are a little roomy in the toe, but there is obvious lockdown technology throughout the shoe, like a real basketball sneaker should have. So they feel loose up front but tight everywhere else. So I’m conflicted. What should I do? Wait & see if my initial reaction is merely unmet expectations? (sometimes I hold clothing I initially don’t like & revisit after some time passes). Or should I resell & get my money back? What would you do in this situation?

#FitsOffFriday - styling the Kanye 2020 Vision Double Layered hoodie. This thing is HEAVY. Like, 4lbs heavy. It’s literally a hoodie inside of a hoodie. Seeing how the weather just broke in Ohio, I’m probably a month too late 🥴. I went for three looks: 1. I wanted different colors to bounce off each other. The @essentials brown sweats are a neutral, & the @carhartt hat & @nikebasketball Kobe 6 “Grinch” are an extreme pop, it actually puts more of a focus on the lavender in the hoodie more. 2. A friend of mine sent me his old ABUs from when we served in the military together. He never wore them, never had them tapered (which is what we would do when we’d get new uniforms). Paired them with the ‘85 @jumpman23 High Neutral Grey. 3. I wanted a more traditional “Yeezy” styled outfit. These are the Athletic Taper jeans from @gap. They offer room, but the taper at the end creates a great silhouette for those who don’t wanna do skinnies but also don’t want their sneakers overwhelmed. Paired them with a black beanie from @ghostprotocol_clothing & the iconic Yeezy 700 “Wave Runner”. Let me know in the comments - 1, 2 or 3?

Won the @soleclassics raffle for the ‘85 Neutral Gray Jordan 1s. Pictures DO NOT do this shoe justice. It’s beautiful. I know I did a video a few months ago about not liking the ‘85, but I’ve broken in the Reverse Breds & they’re definitely more comfortable. That leather is wild stiff (⏸) but it’s great once you give it about 5-6 wears. These are gonna go in the spring.

In previous posts I shared the need for an everyday sneaker to get off. I have a pair of Reebok Classics that serve as my beaters, but if I need to make a run, I want to step out in some 🔥. Enter the @newbalance 992. I know I know, it’s the latest hypebeasty dad shoe & that’s corny. But NBs are timeless. I already have a 574, a 997.5 & a 550 (I had some sneaker boots but sold them). Why two colors? They’re sold out everywhere, but @goat had the gray pair for retail. Not even a week later, @dtlrvilla restocked the navy’s. They run a little big, I’d go down .5 size but TTS isn’t too bad. They are kinda comfortable out the box, but the more I wear them, they feel like sturdy pillows. Do you have a pair of @newbalance? My most worn sneaker just so happens to be a Jordan 1. 2016 Bred. @corporategotem @jumpman23 I drove around the city filling out every raffle I could find. I remember getting the call @ work. I couldn’t get a signal in my office @ the time & I had a micromanaging supervisor who didn’t let us check our phones unless we were on 15 minute breaks (those were timed 🥴). I went to go pick up the shoe & somebody was sitting outside of the @footlocker trying to buy them. I think he offered me like $350...nah. They went on feet as soon as I got home, & I went out that night just so I could wear them. That’s literally all I wore for the next year & change. This is really the shoe that got me into collecting. I was able to build my collection because size 13s were easier to win. What is your most worn shoe? #FitsOffFriday - I’m not gonna lie, this has been my bag lately. I’ve cycled out my sweats & now I only own “premium” quality & I wear them all the time. I feel like ppl plan on abandoning this look once things “go back to normal”, but as a guy in his mid-30s with a baby on the way, comfort has taken priority in my closet. Spending a little extra for comfort is worth it if you can do it. A brand that I absolutely swear by is @talentless. I like how their pieces interchange & still look uniform, even if the colors are different. They often offer 30% off if you buy an entire sweat set. Socks are from @uniqlo, & I’m pretty sure I bought these 10 minutes after I got engaged 😂. I told you I am putting heavy emphasis on socks in 2021. I’m gonna do a separate post on 992s on #ModelMinistryMonday, but let me tell you. I’ve been able to grab most of the sneakers I’ve wanted in the last 12 months. & I’ve been getting super fresh just to go to the store. Around the holidays, my wife & I ended up @ Walmart & I had on some Off Whites. Personally I wouldn’t intentionally wear OWs to Walmart, but we just ended up there. Anyway, we’re in bedding & a guy comes down the aisle & says “wow you did that here?!?” Immediately my face sank in my chest. I felt terrible, because the goal is never to flash or stunt, I truly only get dressed for me. But his “wow” had something behind it & I ain’t like it 😂. So I wanted to purchase a shoe that I could just throw on & be subtle. These 992s won. I got two pair & lately I’ve been wearing them with EVERYTHING. They are INCREDIBLY comfortable. If you watched our Model Ministry Awards/Recap (available on IGTV) I was asked about jerseys & why I wear them. How can you wear another person’s name on your back? But, when I see jerseys, I don’t see that at all. I see culture. I see moments that shaped me as a black kid. I see timelessness. This alternate @lakers #kobebryant Jersey was made famous by @myfabolouslife in the Trade It All video. EVERYBODY wanted it. So you see this & your mind takes you back to 2001. Where were you? Who were your friends? Where did y’all hang out? Who was your crush? What was the style like back then? What were you listening to? What consumed your world? So I wear jerseys A LOT. & I will likely wear them forever. What jersey is your favorite? Whether you owned it or not.
